Here you’ll find answers to the most important questions about accessing and using the SCIDEA Lab.
You can develop ideas and research questions, explore robotic and digital applications, and work on prototypes. Depending on your project, you can also use the SCIDEA Lab’s facilities and technical equipment.
The SCIDEA Lab is open to students at universities and higher education institutions as well as researchers at non-university research institutions in Saxony-Anhalt.
No. You can come to us with your own idea or project, but you can also start with a question or simply an interest in robotics and digital applications. Together, we’ll explore how you can get involved and what could be a good starting point for you.
No. The SCIDEA Lab focuses on robotic and digital solutions for healthcare and nursing care, but ideas and expertise from different disciplines are welcome. Different perspectives can open up entirely new approaches.
Start by getting in touch with us. We’ll talk about what you’re interested in, what you would like to work on and how the Lab could support you. If you then join the incubator, you’ll need to sign a participation agreement. You’ll find all steps and required documents on the SCIDEA Lab Robotics and Digitalisation page.
Yes. If you are eligible to use the SCIDEA Lab, you can also attend its events - such as seminars and technical courses – without joining the incubator.
Through our close collaboration with TPG, we have access to networks in healthcare and nursing care. Together, we can explore opportunities to involve people from the field in your project - for example nursing professionals, people in need of care or physicians.
If you need additional expertise for your idea, we can help you find relevant contacts. We draw on networks within and beyond the university and, where possible, connect you with people whose expertise can complement your project.
The SCIDEA Lab is located at the TPG MakerLab:
Große Nikolaistraße 7, 06108 Halle (Saale)
You can generally use the SCIDEA Lab between 8 am and 5 pm. Please get in touch before your visit so we can arrange a time and coordinate your use of the Lab.
Once you have signed the participation agreement, you can use the SCIDEA Lab infrastructure for twelve months. An extension for another twelve months is possible once, provided there is a valid reason.
Using the SCIDEA Lab is generally free of charge. This includes access to the agreed technical equipment and support from the Lab team. You can also use the consulting and support services provided by the Transfer and Entrepreneurship Office free of charge.
If your idea develops into a startup project, we can continue to support you along the way. Our Startup Support can help you refine your project and work out the next steps towards starting your own business.
SCIDEA combines “Scientific” and “Idea”. The name stands for scientific ideas that can be explored, developed and tested in practice. This also means being open to discarding an approach, learning from what doesn’t work and trying something new.

Supports students and researchers in developing and testing innovative robotics and digital solutions for health and care.

Maintains the technical infrastructure, trains users in working with robotics systems and supports the development and testing of innovative prototypes.
